Lately we’ve been discussing the benefits of the Amazon Affiliates Program. A system that allows you to insert links to your blog posts and social media updates that include a tracking link. This tracking link allows Amazon to track your sales and clicks from that particular link. When readers click through and make a purchase you’re able to collect a small commission at no cost to the buyer. Today we’re going to look at how to add an affiliate link to a Facebook update.
These links don’t necessarily have to be from Amazon, they can be from any affiliate program where you benefit from clicks and purchases. So keep that in mind if you are part of other affiliate networks that offer these types of benefits.
Before we get started I want to remind you to be familiar with your affiliate network and their terms of service. If you not allowed to place links in certain places according to their terms of service you want to avoid doing so, to avoid losing out on that layer of income!
How To Add An Affiliate Link To A Facebook Update
The process for how to add an affiliate link to a Facebook Update is pretty simple and straightforward. This is especially true in the case of Amazon because they have that system built right into their website!
Head on over to Amazon and do a search for the kind of product you want to share with your friends, family, or viewers.
In the site stripe, located at the very top of your page there is a share button section for both Facebook and Twitter!
Select Facebook and be sure to pick the settings that you want. I always choose to share to a page that I manage from the drop down menu.
Fill in your text and tags. Remember to tag Amazon, and add your disclosure so you are FCC compliant!
Then you are ready to post to Facebook. From there, it’s simple. If your readers click and buy you are making profits!
This is a great way to share products with your readers that are relevant to your posts. I like to share things that I stumble upon that I really enjoy. I also like to share things that are relevant or supply related to posts that I publish on my website! The most important thing is that you disclose that this is an affiliate link. According to the FCC you have to inform readers so that they know before they click that you stand to make any kind of profit from the links.
You can also do this another way, which is a bit more clicks but still accessible if you like publishing directly to your page instead of a share!
From your search or item, just click into the site stripe and select “text” and copy the short or full link.
Paste that link into a new post on your Facebook page and allow the info to populate. Then you follow the same steps as above for adding your text and disclosure!
